By: Nayima Gassama & Kennady Janin
What is EFS?
EFS is something DGS calls Education For Sustainability. What education for sustainability is a type of learning like learning about energy, food choices and many more!
How does EFS affect our learning?
How EFS effects our learning is DGS is one of those schools that wants all of the students to grow successful, so we have to take EFS seriously because we learn about real things that can affect our lives.
What is fun about EFS?
What is fun about EFS is in the food unit you get to try different food to test if they are healthy or not healthy, or has calories or no calories. We also get to write down how it impacts our planet and our life too.
Why do we have EFS?
We have EFS because we have a goal at DGS to finish all of our work and to be hard working. EFS is the main unit in all the classes , and EFS gets the day started. EFS is a thing were we learn about real and important things for when we grow older so we can make a difference in the world to make the problem better.
Get to Know Mr. Meyer
By: Sadiya Muratova
Mr. Meyer is a new teacher at Denver Green School. Mr. Meyer’s favorite subject in school is Social Studies and Math. He was born in Dallas, Texas, and he went to college in San Antonio. His parents still live in Dallas, Texas, but his brothers are in Alaska and Germany. His favorite color is blue.
His favorite sport is football because in college he was a football player. His favorite team is the Dallas Cowboys and the Stanford Cardinals. He then moved to Sacramento, California to be a teacher.
This year he moved to Denver, Colorado to be a teacher at Denver Green School. At the Denver Green School, he became our fourth grade teacher. He teaches math, social studies, Individualized Learning Time (ILT), and Education For Stability (EFS). Mr. Meyer likes the Denver Green School because our school serves a very diverse community.
Some other jobs Mr. Meyer had in the past was being a Outdoor guide, selling things that are interesting, and training new teachers. Mr. Meyer used to sell things for camping like tents and flashlights.
Mr. Meyer picked teaching for his job because he thinks it is important that every kid can be anything they want to be, so they can make the world a better place. He likes teaching because he gets to met lots of awesome kids. He also gets to walk around all day. He likes to teach math because math can explain the world.
This year, the 4th grade blog will be written by 4th grade students! Look here for important articles and updates about what is going on in 4th grade! Topics may include excursions, learning updates, and information about people in our class.
Our first unit will be a literature unit about recognizing and celebrating diversity in literature. We will focus on reading quality literature featuring diverse characters and identify all the different qualities that make those characters unique. Over the summer, I read over 50 book to prepare for this unit and am so excited to share with our class! Additionally, I have raised over 500 dollars to purchase new books for our library, but am still looking for 200 dollars to complete the library. If you are interested in donating any amount please see the gofundme link below.
